What is Atheism?
Atheism is the lack of belief in a god.
I think of myself as agnostic, would you still welcome me?
Of course! We have many people that identify themselves as agnostic
in our group. We welcome freethinkers by any name. We even have Christians,
Buddhists, Wiccans, Humanists, and many others join us on occasion.
Is this a group of rebellious teenage kids?
No. Our members range in age from 18-80, many members have college degrees,
and the average age is in the mid 40s. We have group pictures available on
the meetup website if you want to ensure you will not be attacked by blood sucking
devil worshipers.
What is the purpose of this group?
We generally have two meetings each month. One is a social gathering where
we eat, drink, and talk openly about anything and everything in an open floor style.
The other is more directed at political topics, planning events, and listening to
guest speakers. We also have a variety of social activities, such as movies,
study groups, etc, if you want to spend more time with open minded people.
Basically, we want to make the world a better place and have a good time with the
life we have now.
Sounds great, how do I join?
We prefer for all members to join through meetup.com. This gives us a centralized
location to post messages, updates, and organize the meetings. Visit
http://atheists.meetup.com/477/.
This is not required, but it helps us estimate the size of groups to plan for.
Sounds awful, can I come harass your group?
We do not come into your church and tell you to think, so please do not come
tell us to believe. Remember the Golden Rule.
